We’re back! February slipped by in the blink of an eye and alas, there was no podcast. But it’s Autumn now, and that’s the perfect time to start looking at the year ahead and planning which movies TV shows, and books we need to make time to watch/read! Kimberley and I have interestingly different taste a lot of the time, but there were more than a few shows and movies we both agree are already ranked as MUST WATCH. And Kimberley is so totally up to date on what’s coming out in the book world that you really need to add her picks to your Goodreads shelf, like, ASAP.
Some of our picks include a new Blake Lively film, the most definitely soapie TV show Empire, the new wickedly funny Tina Fey/Ellie Kemper show and a book that sounds like an awesome Gossip Girl/Gone Girl hybrid.
Plus, I talk about my love for films about people who slog through trials and tribulations to invent something that makes them rich, and I referenced this Greg Kinnear film, and Kimberley sets me some homework in the form of a cult classic. I have to watch Silence of the Lambs, you guys. It’s going to completely creep me out, but I’m looking forward to reporting back on the next podcast!
The podcast is available to download for free here on PodBean, along with our previous six episodes. Listen, share, tweet us any thoughts/suggestions and enjoy!
Until next time!
This month we talk about the books we read in 2014 that were our favourites (note that not all the books were published in 2014, but they were still awesome – spoiler alert: Rainbow Rowell featured heavily on my list!) and we used Kimberley’s mention of this gorgeous book about red carpet dresses to segue… Continue reading ->
It’s almost the end of 2014, so it’s only fitting for Kimberley and I to talk about our top 5 movies and TV shows watched in 2014. We both had very different lists, so it was great to compare notes on our top picks for the year. We also discuss our favourite earworms, most of… Continue reading ->
Yay, The Pop Culture Hour with Julia & Kimberley is back!! We took a little hiatus while I was sunning myself in Hawaii in October, but we are BACK, BABY! This month’s topic was suggested by a fan, so thank you very much, dear listener! It’s all about adaptations – books to movies, books to… Continue reading ->
Episode two of The Pop Culture Hour with Julia & Kimberley is up! This month we focused on comfort food viewing. That is, the TV shows and movies we can watch infinitely because they’re so familiar and comforting. The types of shows that you can have on in the background and tune in and out… Continue reading ->
So, a while ago, maybe at the end of last year or earlier this year, I started listening to a few podcasts. Usually about things like TV and film, but mostly just general chit chat ones. I kept thinking “This is so cool, just a few people sitting around, talking about stuff they like and… Continue reading ->
