Country Road always do great Winter dresses, with great long sleeves (imperative for Winter – short sleeved dresses in Winter ranges drive me bonkers. IT’S COLD. I WANT TO COVER MY ARMS.) Last year there were a couple I saw that I didn’t buy, including a gorgeous black and white one, and I was kicking myself for ages after it was long gone from the shops. I find that Country Road Winter dresses are always a nice, thick fabric which makes them flattering to wear because that thickness gives the dress structure on my figure and helps reign in the not so flattering parts. Fabric weight makes such a difference to me with dresses and skirts. I had ordered a similar styled dress to the one below from ASOS a few weeks ago, and the fabric was such a thin jersey it showed every single pudgy bit of skin and was oddly loose at the base of my back. So unflattering that it got returned straight away. Country Road also know how to effectively place a bit of rouching, which is one of my favourite things on an otherwise plain dress. It adds shape at the waistline and skims over the hips without drawing attention to the curviest part of my body.
Okay, since the mornings have officially become cooler, I feel it is now acceptable to discuss Autumn fashion.
