Been a while, huh? Hi! I bought a new outfit last week and I love it so much I was driven to dust off the old blog login and see if it still worked (spoiler alert: it does), and here we are!
I’ve been wearing basically nothing but black pants and top at work and I desperately needed to mix things up a bit, and since animal print is literally EVERYWHERE right now, and it’s a print I’ve always loved (even if I secretly wonder if it makes me look like an 80 year old divorcee. I also STILL regret not buying a fantastic Banana Republic leopard print trench coat at the Hawaii outlets five years ago), so I’ve been wanting to invest in a classic piece for my winter wardrobe. I saw this dress recently and had to try it on. Lucky for me it was during one of Myer’s many Super Weekends and it was 25% off the full price.
Paired with my black ankle boots from last year, this is a look that doesn’t need much added to it. I love the shirtdress style, because it makes the midi length fitted through the waist and not so dowdy on my figure. I just needed a black leather jacket to complete the look, and again, luckily for me I looked for one during last week’s Click Frenzy internet madness. Ezibuy had $50 off a spend of over $200, so I thanked the Gods for Afterpay, added this number to my cart and proceeded straight to the checkout. The black ankle boots I already have, but you could buy literally any pair and it would look fine.
For some weird reason I’m always drawn to jackets without collars, something I didn’t realise until I got this one and tried it on. But I quite like the look – the sharp lapels make up for the lack of collar, and it’s fitted without feeling tight. It also sits at the perfect spot on my ridiculously long torso.
I also think this dress would look fab with a really nice pair of black closed toe heels if you wanted a more classic look. It’s definitely a very versatile dress. Yay!
Leopard print and black leather. Is there a more perfect combo? Nope.
I started a new job in January this year, and after a year of being at home in maternity leave and existing mostly in tracksuit pants or jeans and jumpers, my work wardrobe was in need of quite the freshening up. Armed with some birthday and Christmas vouchers, I hit up my local Westfield to… Continue reading ->
You guys. I have a new obsession and it’s pretty obvious what it is. Bomber jackets. I’ll be honest, it took me a while to come around to them, but suddenly they are literally EVERYWHERE and I can’t get enough of them. I bought an olive green one a while ago and now I’ve got… Continue reading ->
I’ve been trying to update my wardrobe a little bit lately. I think it’s because we’ve reached that point in Winter where it feels like it’s never going to end, I’m going to be stuck inside forever, and I’m never going to wear anything except fleecy hoodies and tracksuit pants for the rest of my… Continue reading ->
I’m on maternity leave this year, so my work wardrobe is enjoying its holiday in my drawers for the next little while. However, now that we’re heading into the cooler months, I realised all the winter stuff I wore last year was largely maternity clothing or regular clothes that I bought slightly larger to accommodate… Continue reading ->
Having a baby is a weird thing. I mean, it’s amazing and exhausting because you know, you get a baby at the end of the forty odd weeks, but it does a weird thing to a person’s sense of style. Pre-baby you’re confident (mostly) about what you like to wear and what you’re comfortable in… Continue reading ->
I recently did a wardrobe clean out and threw away literally every pair of sandals I own. Every single pair. They were all at least three years old or more, some of them had straps that were wearing out or broken (but the sandal itself was still wearable), and a lot of them weren’t really… Continue reading ->
Resurfacing after an unscheduled blogging break to bring you the Emmy Award Fashion hits and misses! We’ve had a tough month of sickness in our house, and though I wasn’t sick as my husband and daughter, I feel very run down and exhausted. So this year’s Emmys red carpet was a welcome breath of fresh… Continue reading ->
I’ve been annoyed at little girl’s skirts in shops the past two Winters (and Summers, let’s be honest). They are usually about as long as the bottom of their bum cheeks, and even with tights on in Winter, they’re still too damn short for my liking, especially on my four year old with long, long… Continue reading ->
