Retail Therapy – Finders Keepers Market July 2016

Did anyone make it to the Finders Keepers market at the Exhibition Building in Melbourne over the weekend? I went on Friday night and had a great time perusing the stalls and enjoying some child-free time. There were a LOT of really great independent retailers there, but if you couldn’t make it, don’t worry! I’ve got a quick round up of some of my favourite stalls right here!

Bespoke Letterpress – Couture Stationary
Bespoke Letterpress had a relatively large stall and their stationary and gift wrap were utterly gorgeous. It was, as the name suggests, completely couture paper goods and it was easy to see why there were always hoards of people flicking through the huge selection of cards, wrap and other pretty paper things. I’m a sucker for letterpress, and when it’s mixed with bold jewel tone colours and metallic fonts it was hard not to walk away with a year’s supply of greeting cards.

Fizzy Pop Designs
This designer caught my eye immediately. They had the lovliest canvas alphabet wall hangings that would suit either a baby girl or boy’s room, along with brightly coloured milestone cards and other prints that were bold and eye-catching. Definitely a site to hit up if you have a baby on the way, or a baby shower gift to purchase!

and o Design
and o Design was probably my favourite jewellery designer of the night. I came back to the stall three times to browse, and very nearly came home with one of these dainty, pastel coloured teardrop necklaces. I’m pretty sure a purchase of one of these will be in my near future, along with some of their gorgeous stud earrings. The pieces were minimalist but with enough colour to make them eye-catching and understated at the same time, which is exactly what I look for in jewellery.

Miann & Co
Another beautiful jewellery stand, these pieces were simply designed and perfect for everyday wear. The dainty earrings really caught my attention, particularly the studs in cute and quirky designs. I have my eye on the cross stud earrings in silver as that’s a style of stud I don’t currently own. Their necklaces are chic and on trend without being over the top and would suit both day and night looks – well worth the affordable price points!

Next Romance Jewels
These pieces are a lot of fun and the stall at the market was so colourful and eye catching. I love the mix of colours and the textures of the pieces. Everything is hand made, and the vibrant pops of colour are so delightful, particularly against this dreary Winter landscape. These statement pieces are definitely a fun addition to any look.

Koa by Katilin
This vase caught my eye as soon as the Koa stall came into my line of vision. Deliciately decorated, while also being a perfect size for a small floral arrangement, the coral colour is one of my favourites, and it was hard to leave the market without this gorgeous ceramic piece in my possession. Also check out the range of cool coffee mugs – the pastel colours and handle-less mugs would be beautiful to have out on display on an open kitchen shelf.

Urban Cartel
Lately I’m obsessed with trinket dishes. I don’t know why, but I just find them so adorable and perfect for holding my earrings and necklaces that are on rotation at the moment. The whimsical design of these porcelain cloud shaped dishes with metallic raindrops are such a cute shape, and at only thirty bucks each they’re such a sweet addition to the top of your dressing table or to have in the bathroom to pop your jewellery on at the end of the day. I’m in love.

The colourful bold patterns on these bags caught my eye, and the utterly enormous size of the Neverful large poly tote bags have me thinking they would be perfect for a family beach bag in Summer. The cafe bags are so cute for carrying lunch to work from home, and the price point of all the bags is really affordable. Definitely worth a browse on their website.

Miranda Murphy
This is a new-to-me brand. I had heard of it via bloggers on Instagram but had never seen the brand in real life. While I didn’t try anything on, the colours and patterns of the fabrics used are SO HAPPY and bright and eye-catching. Perfect for lifting your wardrobe over Winter, and perfect for throwing on a light dress or top in Summer with some sandals and feeling like you’re in holiday mode any day of the week.

Able and Game
I’m a sucker for cards and stationary that are full of cute cartoons and puns, and Able and Game hits the mark exactly. The brand also has tote bags and tea towels, among other things, for sale, so if you’re looking for something to help you lift your gift-giving game, this is the place to check out. Cats seem to feature heavily if that’s your thing – just a little FYI!

Joliet Petite Chose
Another one for the tiny people set, this designer makes the most beautiful baby blankets, mobiles and baby bedding. Everything feels luxurious and whimsical without being too babyish. The soft pastels suit any decor and give your child’s room a little bit of personality without feeling too colourful or cluttered. This is another great place to shop if you have baby gifts you need to purchase. A blanket from here would be a welcome addition to any child’s room, and one of those items that gets kept for years.

Other honorable mentions include these brands (not pictured):
Little Scooch – cute graphic tees and onesies for kids. The Darth Vader one nearly came home with me.
Two Little Ducklings – adorable flash cards, height chards, and milestone cards for your little one. Clean, colourful designs that will appeal to any little tot (and their parents!)
Emily Green – you know who she is. Those round, polymer chunky necklaces you see everywhere that everyone now copies? That’s her. I LOVE them.
Terrariums by Bella – if you’re looking to add a little greenery to your workspace or home, these terrariums and crystal succulent planters are a compact and cute way to do so. Very on trend and a great gift idea as well.

Did you go to the Finders Keepers market in Melbourne? If so, I’d love to know what your favourite stalls were. If you missed out, never fear! The next one is in October this year.

Until next time,
