I’ve been AWOL from the blog a bit because we’re still busy settling into our new house, and as a result making smoothies hasn’t been high on my list of priorities. It should though, because all this Winter blah weather has me feeling like I need some refreshing fruit and veggies in my diet (HOW COLD WAS LAST WEEKEND?). So, last week when I did the shopping I grabbed some papaya because I’m seeing it everywhere even though I thought it’s not really in season right now (according to the internet it is available most of the year). I already had a bag of oranges because I’ve been craving vitamin C lately, and I just kind of of made this smoothie up as I shopped.
Orange, Papaya and Passionfruit Smoothie
1 cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
Half a papaya, pureed
Pulp from one passionfruit
Half a cup of yoghurt (I used Chobani’s coconut flavour)
Puree the papaya so that it’s as smooth as possible. Add all the ingredients to the blender and blend until as liquified as possible. I struggled to get my papaya to pureed enough, and had to pulse it a number of times, which was frustrating. Also frustrating is that the flavour of the papaya was not really…there. It was a tad mealy tasting, so I’m glad I had fresh OJ and coconut flavoured yoghurt, plus the tang of the passionfruit to give the smoothie some oomph. If I made this again, I’d substitute the papaya for a sweeter fruit to balance out the tangy citrus flavour. Honestly, I found the whole smoothie very mediocre, which was disappointing!
Hopefully I’ll have a more interesting one for you next time (which I aim to do weekly again….we’ll see how that works out!)
Until next time,Share this post:
