Second week in and I’m getting the post up just down to the wire! I was busy this morning, and then I was out most of the afternoon, so I didn’t get around to making it until it was much later in the day. Anyway, here it is!
Banana Pear with Pep
Half a banana, chopped
One ripe pear, chopped roughly
One cup of milk (I used a coconut almond milk blend that I found at Coles)
One teaspoon of honey
Half a teaspoon of freshly grated ginger
A sprinkle of cinnamon, to taste
An extra sprinkle of cinnamon over the top once it’s in the glass
Throw it all in the blender and blend until the fruits are pureed.
I really liked this. Only using half a banana was a good idea – last week’s smoothie was a little heavy, I think because I used a full banana along with all the other fruit and ultimately it was just too much. Only using half a banana was a good move. The ripe pear also added to thinning out the smoothie. The honey was a last minute add in to give it a little sweetness, because the fresh ginger was quite strong (my husband was not a fan of it. MORE GINGER FOR ME). The cinnamon and honey helped balance the ginger flavour, and coupled with the pear, I found the whole thing quite refreshing. This will definitely get a repeat during the week – it was quite a nice little pick-me-up on a warm afternoon.
