Links I Love

I haven’t done one of these for a while, but with my Road to the Oscars series nearing completion, I’ve got the showbiz on the brain! And so does the rest of the internet apparently, because I feel like every link I click on is Oscars related, or SNL related, or something . So of course I want to share them all with you!

This article about past Oscar winners’ recounting the nights they won is fascinating. I love hearing behind the scenes stories from awards shows because of the energy of the attendees. Everything happens so fast, and hearing about Oscar winners getting starstruck and nervous and what goes on at the after parties is so entertaining.

One woman’s account of getting into the SNL 40th anniversary after party is awesome. Reading about how many celebrities and musicians and comedians were there is just amazing. What I would give to be a party crasher that night, my friends. If I saw Jerry Seinfeld in person up close, I cannot tell you how I would react. I’d probably just start babbling lines from the show at him and laughing uncontrollably.

– Speaking of SNL, Jimmy Fallon’s account of the after party is INSANE. Jamming on stage with Paul McCartney and Taylor Swift? Calling out Prince to come on stage? Holy crap. Also, can I note how awesome Jimmy Fallon is? I don’t watch his show much, but I think that’s going to have to change. He seems so lovely and funny and down to earth. Plus, I do have a soft spot for the film Fever Pitch he’s in with Drew Barrymore.

These two little girls recreating the Best Picture nominees is adorable. The Birdman one in particular is very cute.

– Vanity Fair has an interview with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer and it’s a fabulous read. And can we please note how damn good Julie Andrews is looking? Somebody hook me up with that anti-aging cream, stat.

– Finally a Mad Men season 7 promo aired yesterday. It’s only 30 seconds long, but the 70s vibe is at critical mass, you guys. Of course Pete Campbell is turning into a fat, balding lech. No one is surprised there, but it sure is amusing to see, right?

Until next time,
