April has been manic, hence the lack of blogging the past couple of weeks. Plus I’ve had a head cold for about a week, so there’s that.
On the plus side, I’ve had time to listen to some new music, so here’s what’s on my iPod playlist at the moment!
400 Lux – Lorde
I love this. Even though my husband remarked today how all her music sounds the same, this song is slower, smoother. It’s getting under my skin.
Stolen Chance – Milky Dance
This is just a really great indie-pop song. The group is German, and this is their debut single. You’ll love it. Plus, the song name and the band name rhyme, which weirdly appeals to me.
Girls Chase Boys – Ingrid Michaelson
I have loved Ingrid Michaelson for a number of years now. And now you need to start loving her as well. She has a great back catalogue, but this song is from her new album and the video clip is an homage to Robert Palmer’s Simply Irresistible, but with a twist. Listen to it, love it (and be slightly jealous that the dudes have better legs than most girls). I promise.
Radar Detector – Darwin Deez
This is slightly quirky and bizarre, but it’s catchy. He does kind of look like a guy who might work at an organic cafe that serves mung bean smoothies or something, but he’s made a cute song.
Better Man – Paolo Nutini
Paolo Nutini is another artist I’ve been listening to and loving for years. I’ve been waiting and waiting for a new album and this song is from his latest release. I’m not….100% sure on the other stuff I’ve heard from it so far, but this song is lovely. His voice is so….beyond his years, I think. I’ll have to give this album a really good few listens I think, before deciding on it. I highly, highly recommend his debut album, These Streets – it’s truly fantastic. My sisters and I saw him perform in 2009 and while he sounded perfect, he barely interacted with the audience and spent half the show with his back to us, which slightly coloured my opinion of him, but I’m all for second chances.
Gimme Sympathy – Metric
So this song is about five years old, but I only heard it recently. The lead singer reminds me so much of Jenny Lewis from Rilo Kiley. It’s kicky and sweet, and if you like Rilo Kiley you’ll probably like this, like I do.
What are you listening to at the moment? I’m always on the hunt for new music!
