Style – Black and White Chic

I love classic black and white, because it always looks crisp and clean and it’s perfect any time of the year.

1. A-Line Stripe Skirt, Brown Sugar, $99.95AUD. I bought this skirt in November and it’s only been worn once so far, but I love it. A-line skirts are perfect for my body shape, and though horizontal stripes can be unflattering, the clean lines on this skirt prevent the stripes from appearing too heavy.

2. Vita black flats, Jo Mercer, $129.95. These ones seem to be suede, but I have them in non-suede black leather. Also I’m pretty sure I bought mine on sale for $99.95 (that was in October, I think?). I also have a pair in brown, and those two pair of shoes are on constant rotation during the week and on weekends. I love skirts with flats, kind of that 1950s vibe.

3. Basic crew neck tee, Mix apparel (Coles), $8. I haven’t found the right black sleeveless blouse to go with the skirt yet, so for now I’m pairing it with a cheap t-shirt from Coles’ Mix clothing line. I’m lucky to work in an office where the dress code is business casual and t-shirts are fine to wear, so this works well for now. One of the things I love about the Mix tees is that they are cheaply priced, but thick enough not to need to layer a singlet underneath, which is one of my biggest pet peeves when I shop for t-shirts.

4. Asos Bridge Detail Cat Eye Sunglasses, Asos, $22.85. And of course if you need some cute sunnies to go with the outfit, and these ones have sharp and modern edges, which I like.

Until next time,

I find some great things in the Mix range too Julia. A couple of years ago I bought 5 lightweight cardigans in aqua, magenta, yellow, purple and grey. They were reduced to something ridiculous like $8 each. I think they will easily last another season. I also have an array of long sleeved tops. The only down side is they have no change rooms, but as I do my weekly shop there it’s easy to change something the next time I’m there.

Ah, the Coles near me does have a change room, so that helps when purchasing! I’ve bought some super cute stretchy skirts for work there as well.
